Habitat for Humanity New York City in conjunction with Almat Group will be breaking ground on Sydney House, a 56-unit affordable co-op building in the Williamsbridge section of the Bronx. Sydney House is a historic development as the first project under New York City’s Open Door affordable housing initiative, as well as the largest single structure ever built by a Habitat affiliate.
The development will consist of 26 one-bedroom units, 24 two-bedroom units, and 6 three-bedroom units available for affordable ownership. Capital support for the project comes from Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr., Council Member Andy King, HPD, NYS Affordable Housing Corporation (AHC), and Housing Trust Fund (HTF).
The groundbreaking will take place on March 16, 2018 at 10:30 – 11:30am at the future site of Sydney House, 839-843 Tilden Street, Bronx, NY 10467. Attendees at this historic groundbreaking include:
