Community Housing Opportunities Corporation (CHOC), a non-profit organization dedicated to expanding affordable housing, announces the grand opening of Placita Dolores Huerta, a new highly anticipated 56-unit affordable housing community in the City of Coachella.

Named in honor the globally recognized social justice icon and Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient, Dolores Huerta, the complex was developed by the Community Housing Opportunities Corporation and serves as an excellent example of how other California cities can address their affordable housing challenges.

Located on a 2.97-acre site, Placita Dolores Huerta (also known as Coachella Valley Apartments) offers a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom units along with a children’s playground, BBQ areas, on-site laundry facilities, a community room, a computer lab, and on-site parking.

Also included are a variety of resident programs tailored to meet resident’s specific needs. The development was funded by the California Tax Credit Allocation Committee (CTCAC), Riverside County HOME Funds, the City of Coachella CFD loan, American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), and USDA Rural Development financing.

CHOC processes applicants through a first come, first served waiting list. Applicants must go through a standard, on-site application process. Housing Choice Voucher holders are welcome to apply.
