Tower Capital Expands into California, Adds Senior CRE Finance Capital Markets Leaders, Opens New Office in Los Angeles

The latest additions boost its newly-formed, retail-focused, Capital Markets Group to five members, led by Geoffrey Harris, who arrange capital for clients across multiple markets including California, Texas, and the Sun Belt.

Tower Capital, a leading capital advisor in CRE finance, expanded with a new team in California, adding three capital markets leaders and opening a new office in Los Angeles.

The latest to join in California are Alex Chenarides, who will serve as Senior Vice President, Monica Pendergast, who joins as a Transaction Manager, and Adam Folz, who joins as a Capital Advisor. The Capital Markets Group also includes Tanner Johnson, a Vice President. The expansion in California follows Tower Capital’s growth in Texas, where it opened a Dallas office earlier this year, and expansion in Denver in 2022.

A banking crisis and rising interest rates created a volatile and uncertain capital markets environment over the past several years, causing overall contraction to spread across the financial markets and further constrained credit markets.

Alex Chenarides
Alex Chenarides is based in the firm’s Los Angeles office and handles commercial real estate finance assignments for net lease, multi-tenant retail, and multifamily assets across California. He previously served at Slatt Capital for nearly two decades and brings 24 years of commercial real estate finance experience to the company in roles as an investor, lender and mortgage banker. Chenarides has executed in excess of $3 billion in loans over his career encompassing all CRE property types while utilizing a full range of funding sources such as banks, debt funds, and life insurance companies.
Monica Pendergast
Monica Pendergast is a Commercial Real Estate Loan Closing & Servicing Specialist who brings more than 20 years of finance experience to her role at Tower Capital. Most recently, she served as a SBA Disaster Loan Servicing Specialist with the US Small Business Administration. Earlier in her career, Pendergast spent nearly 15 years as a loan closing manager in commercial real estate finance.
Adam Folz
Adam Folz joins as a Capital Advisor, with close to a decade of experience in the industry. He specializes in the origination and underwriting of loans for investors seeking structured financing on apartments, office, industrial and retail acquisitions for both stabilized properties and redevelopment opportunities. Folz works closely with high-net-worth individuals to develop long term financing strategies and managed the closing process for complex transactions.
