Dominium, a leading affordable housing developer, owner, and manager announced that it will celebrate the grand opening of the Haven at Congaree Pointe affordable housing development in Columbia.
Haven at Congaree Pointe is a four-story community with elevators that consists of 96 one-bedroom and 102 two-bedroom apartments. Amenities for residents include an expansive courtyard with a grilling area, community room with a kitchen, fitness center, theater room, in-home laundry, salon and much more. It sits directly across the street from Bible Way Church of Atlas Road, is convenient to Interstate 77 and is just a 15-minute drive from Columbia’s city center.
Haven at Congaree Pointe is supported by the Section 42 Low-Income Housing Tax Credit program (LIHTC) and the South Carolina State Housing Tax Credit. Nationwide, LIHTC is the largest source of support for the construction and maintenance of affordable housing communities. In exchange for tax credits, affordable housing developers and operators agree to maintain rents at levels tied to the Area Median Income (AMI).
“Haven at Congaree Pointe brings to life a vision for this neighborhood that was years in the making and will provide affordable homes to the seniors of this community for years to come,” said Nick Andersen, Senior Vice President and Southeast Development Leader at Dominium. “We could think of no better community to be our first in South Carolina and we look forward to partnering with state and local officials to bring affordable housing to residents across the entire Palmetto State.”
The grand opening celebration on Tuesday, May 28, will include remarks from U.S. Congressman James E. Clyburn, S.C. State Senator Darrell Jackson, City of Columbia Mayor Daniel Rickenmann, and Dominium leaders. Speeches will be followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony, networking and light refreshments. The event will go from 1-2:30 p.m. EST.
