California High-Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA) officials said that another $100 billion IS needed to complete the high-speed rail network between San Francisco and Los Angeles, raising the total cost to $135 billion. THE Original estimate was $33 billion with completion IN 2028. Despite numerous setbacks and Californians questioning the project, construction on the Bakersfield to Merced leg have continued. the state and federal government continue to pour billions into the project.
