Agave is located at 2052 Lake Avenue and is expected to be completed in 2025.

EAH Housing, one of the largest and most respected nonprofit housing development and management organizations in the western United States, in partnership with Union Station Homeless Services, has started construction on Agave, a 58-unit affordable housing development in Altadena, California.

“As many cities in LA County, Altadena is dealing with a rapidly growing need for not only affordable housing but special needs and permanent supportive housing,” said Laura Hall, CEO and President of EAH Housing. “We see Agave as an opportunity to address this demand and provide Altadena with a community where the needs of individuals facing housing instability will be addressed. We are grateful for our partnership with Union Station Homeless Services and the countless ways their services will benefit the lives of Agave residents for years to come.”

The four-story building will offer a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartment homes for formerly unhoused individuals making 30% of the local Area Median Income (AMI). Agave residents will have access to a central courtyard on the first floor and several other common spaces to create a sense of community, well-being, and stability among individuals transitioning to life in their new home. The community will also offer bicycle parking, 18 parking spaces for residents and staff, on-site laundry, and an on-site management office. All units will feature 100% energy-efficient appliances, window coverings, and walk-in closets.

Union Station Homeless Services will provide supportive housing services for residents’ unique needs. In accordance with applicable federal regulations, all residents will have access to the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) and Coordinated Entry System (CES).

“We are honored to partner with EAH Housing on the Agave project. This development represents a significant step toward addressing Altadena’s critical need for permanent supportive housing. We are proud to support a project that will provide stability, security, and a sense of community for those most in need,” said Joshua Evju, Vice President Relationship Manager – Affordable Housing at U.S Bank.

“Agave is the direct response to the evolving needs of the local Altadena area. The community is conveniently located and offers a variety of common spaces to make residents feel connected in their new home,” said Victoria Knapp, Chair of the Altadena Town Council. “I am thrilled that we were able to work directly with Union Station Homeless Services to ensure our residents have direct access to high-quality support and on-site services. With their support, Agave residents dealing with housing insecurity can take advantage of the vital resources they need.”
