Homes range from 620 to 1,120 square feet and are affordable to residents earning up to 20 to 60 percent of Area Median Income. The development adds 124 affordable units to the neighborhood, including 38 apartments reserved for people who have experienced homelessness, totaling 465 units.

Foon Lok East, the fourth and final affordable housing development at Brooklyn Basin in Oakland, California, has been completed. MidPen Housing, in partnership with the City of Oakland and the Oakland Housing Authority, developed the property, which offers one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments.

Foon Lok East and neighboring Foon Lok West are tied together structurally at the podium garage, and will operate as one property once Foon Lok East is completed. It is located across from Brooklyn Basin’s renovated and repurposed 9th Avenue Terminal and Township Commons public park. Foon Lok East is a part of Brooklyn Basin, a master-planned community along Oakland’s waterfront that will provide over 3,100 new homes for people of all ages, income levels and walks of life within a vibrant, 64-acre, mixed-use district that includes retail, parks and open spaces. Foon Lok means “Joyous Community” in Cantonese.

Residents of Foon Lok West will enjoy community amenities including a multi-purpose community room, computer lab, learning center, secured bicycle parking, and a landscaped courtyard with playground and BBQ area.
