3Zero3 in Seattle, is the world’s first net-zero residential high-rise, meaning that the energy emitted by the building equals the energy produced by the building, resulting in a net-zero carbon footprint thanks to sustainable engineering and design practices.
Designed by Seattle-based building technology company Sustainable Living Innovations, the multifamily high-rise features an extensive solar panel system on the roof, exterior walls and balconies. Low-energy heating and lighting keep utility costs low and prevent energy consumption.
Sustainable Living Innovations’ goal was to build a better living space for the tenants by prioritizing natural light, access to the outdoors, high-level acoustics and highly sustainable technology, while delivering a living space that feels clean and modern, featuring a wide variety of colors and textures.
With an expansive catalog of sustainable surfaces, paired with the logistics and service required for a large commercial project, Wilsonart was equipped to deliver this revolutionary vision for sustainable living by providing its Thermally Fused Laminate (TFL), Compact Laminate and Quartz surfaces.
Wilsonart TFL panels in the Grey Elm design were used on 3Zero3 residence walls, creating the perfect blank canvas for personal design elements throughout the area. Wilsonart Compact Laminate in White Carrara was used as kitchen backsplashes to brighten the space. North Cascades from Wilsonart Quartz features a warm grey branching vein structure that comes alive in the unit’s natural light. It’s the premium choice for countertops and a welcoming coffee table island, engineered for superior resistance against stains, abrasions, scratches, cracks and chips.
