NeighborWorks® Housing Solutions, the leading housing service provider in southern Massachusetts, is honoring The Rotary Club of Attleboro with plaques in each of the 22 furnished apartments at Ascension House in recognition of the Club’s generous funding.

The Rotary Club of Attleboro’s donation of $66,000 covered the cost of furnishing the 22 apartment units for formerly homeless individuals, located at 150 Pleasant Street in Attleboro. The development also includes an 18-bed adult emergency shelter called Ascension House.

“We are proud to support the new homeless shelter in our community through this donation,” said Kathi Hague, president of The Rotary Club of Attleboro. “Providing furnishings for the shelter is an essential step in creating a welcoming environment for those in need. It’s a privilege to contribute to a project that embodies compassion and hope, while making a positive impact on the lives of our neighbors.”

“We are deeply grateful to The Rotary Club of Attleboro for their generous donation, a contribution that has provided essential furnishing for the 22 permanent supportive apartments where individuals can begin to rebuild their lives,” said Rob Corley, CEO of NeighborWorks Housing Solutions. “To honor their support, we have placed commemorative plaques in each room as a tribute to the Club’s inspiring dedication to service in the community and compassion for others.”

“It is only fitting that commemorative plaques be displayed on the doors inside the brand new, state-of-the-art homeless shelter, permanent supportive housing, and social service building on Pleasant Street,” added State Representative James K. Hawkins. “In keeping with their motto of service above self, the Rotary Club of Attleboro graciously donated $66,000 to toward the furnishings for the project, filling each room with the comforts of a home and with hope for a fresh start and a lift upward. Club Vice President Matthew Flannagan sat proudly on our board throughout the development and finalization of Ascension House, and his contribution has been invaluable.”

Ascension House was initially advocated by the Northern Bristol County Assistance Collaborative (NBCAC). The agency partnered with NeighborWorks Housing Solutions to address the needs of those experiencing homelessness and establish permanent supportive housing to provide a long-term solution to help end homelessness in the Attleboro community.

NeighborWorks Housing Solutions has partnered with Catholic Social Services to manage and operate the emergency shelter program at Ascension House and with Father Bill’s & MainSpring to provide the supportive services for the permanent housing program.
