Originally built in 1973, the former assisted living facility will be adapted to feature 20 studio apartments ranging from 350 to 360 square feet, 47 one-bedroom apartments ranging from 400 to 475 square feet, and a 750-square-foot manager unit, all with energy-efficient appliances, central heat and air, and window coverings.

EAH Housing, one of the largest and most respected non-profit housing development and management organizations in the western United States, announced plans for Parkview Glendale. In collaboration with Egan | Simon Architecture, Inc., a Los Angeles-based architecture and construction management firm, and ICON National, an industry-leading construction services company, the adaptive reuse project will bring 68 new affordable housing units to Los Angeles County.

“The City of Glendale has invested in Parkview Glendale because affordable housing is critical to developing a thriving community,” Glendale Mayor Ara Najarian said of the underutilized site being turned into affordable homes. “This project allows older adults to age with dignity, stay connected to their community, and live close to essential services. This kind of smart, compassionate redevelopment strengthens Glendale for everyone – not just today’s older adults, but future generations.”

Designed to serve older adults earning 30% to 60% of the local area median income (AMI), the 43,000-square-foot community will offer a variety of indoor and outdoor amenities that promote social interaction and support overall wellness. These spaces include a community room, a community garden, spacious courtyards, and a resident lounge. Residents can also access an elevator, onsite laundry, management offices, and ample parking. EAH Housing will also provide resident services through an onsite Resident Services Coordinator and collaborate with local organizations to offer specialized programs to enhance residents’ well-being.

“At EAH Housing, we believe that everyone deserves a stable, affordable place to call home regardless of age,” said Laura Hall, CEO of EAH Housing. “Parkview Glendale reflects our mission to revitalize and preserve affordable housing. We’re proud to work alongside the City of Glendale and our partners to help residents 62+ remain connected to their community.”

Situated in Glendale’s Citrus Grove neighborhood, residents of Parkview Glendale will enjoy convenient access to multiple bus lines, Metrolink lines, and the I-134 freeway. The community is also located within one mile of several full-service grocers, healthcare facilities, banks, post offices, City offices, major retail, and restaurants.
