One Big Beautiful Bill Act
Buddy Hughes, Chairman of the Board for NAHB

Buddy Hughes, chairman of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and a home builder and developer from Lexington, North Carolina, issued the following statement after the Senate passed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act:

“NAHB commends the Senate for passing the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. This legislation will help spur economic growth and allow our members to invest more resources in multifamily rental construction, land development to build more single-family homes, and new equipment to expand their businesses. In turn, this will create a better business climate that allows builders to increase the nation’s housing supply, which is crucial to help ease America’s housing affordability crisis. We urge the House to move quickly to pass this bill.”

The National Association of Home Builders is a Washington-based trade association representing more than 140,000 members involved in home building, remodeling, multifamily construction, property management, subcontracting, design, housing finance, building product manufacturing and other aspects of residential and light commercial construction. NAHB is affiliated with 700 state and local home builders associations around the country. NAHB’s builder members will construct about 80% of the new housing units projected for this year.

Buddy Hughes, a Lexington, N.C.-based home builder and developer with more than 45 years of experience in the home building industry, is NAHB’s 2025 Chairman of the Board. Hughes, a third-generation builder, in 1984 opened Hughes Construction, a general contracting business specializing in home building and light commercial construction. Since the 1990s, Hughes has trained hundreds of builders to install poured insulated concrete walls for all types of construction. Today, he continues to serve as a product specialist and consultant to the residential and commercial construction industry for both large and small projects.
