South Shore Habitat for Humanity is pleased to announce that Erin McGough has been selected as the organization’s new executive director.
In this role, Erin McGough will lead the Habitat team toward achieving their mission of serving, advocating for, and advancing the work of South Shore Habitat to create and preserve more affordable homeownership opportunities for families and communities.
McGough succeeds Beth Lyons who is retiring after seven years with the organization, four as executive director. Under her leadership, four affordable homes were built and 57 critical home repairs were completed. Lyons will take on a new role joining South Shore Habitat’s Board of Directors.
“I am proud to have been part of a team that accomplished so much over the past seven years. As I move into retirement, I look forward to watching Erin continue to grow the program and provide even more affordable housing in our communities and help more seniors remain safely in their homes,” said Lyons.
McGough brings more than 21 years working in the nonprofit sector. She held leadership positions with Fuller Craft Museum, and Duxbury Rural and Historical Society and currently holds a position on the Community Preservation Community in the town of Middleboro. McGough’s experience in management, strategic planning, community relations and fundraising will contribute to the growth of South Shore Habitat.
“The Board is very excited to have Erin take on the role of executive director. She brings a great mix of skills and work experience that will help move South Shore Habitat for Humanity into our next phase,” said Board President Robert O’Neill.
McGough joins the organization at a crucial time. Since 1986, South Shore Habitat has built 65 homes and is in the process of expanding construction to build more safe, affordable homes in the community. Additionally, the organization continues to expand critical home repairs for low to moderate income senior and veteran homeowners in Southeastern Massachusetts.
