Boston Planning Approves Six Projects to Create 577 Residential Units

The Boston Planning Department board this month approved six new development projects representing approximately 859,726 square feet. Spanning the Boston neighborhoods of Allston, Brighton, Dorchester, Jamaica Plain and Roxbury, the new projects will create 577 residential units, including 251 that are designated as income-restricted.

The board approved the following:

  • Drexel Village at 175 Ruggles Street on public land in Roxbury; 217 residential units, including 190 income-restricted units.
  • 250 Everett Street in Brighton, on what is currently a parking lot and office space; 240 residential units, 41 income-restricted.
  • 101-109 Boston Street in Dorchester, a passive house development that will create 53 new housing units, including eight income-restricted.
  • 3458 Washington Street, replacing an autobody repair shop in Jamaica Plain to become new housing; 34 units, including eight income-restricted.
  • 23-25 N. Beacon Street in Allston, ground-up construction of 25 residential units, including four income-restricted.
  • An amendment to a plan to convert an office building downtown at 101 Tremont Street to student housing.

The BPDA (Boston Planning) Board is an official body of five members who manage the BPDA, vote on all actions taken by the BPDA, including final determinations and agreements resulting from the development review process, planning studies, rezoning initiatives, property acquisitions and conveyances, and other real estate actions for land owned by the BPDA. The BPDA Board meets at regularly-scheduled public meetings, usually held once a month.
