Buddy Hughes, chairman of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and a home builder and developer from Lexington, North Carolina issued the following statement after the Senate confirmed Lori Chavez-DeRemer as secretary of the U.S. Department of Labor:
“NAHB congratulates Lori Chavez-DeRemer on her Senate confirmation to lead the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL). While serving in Congress, she was a leading voice in protecting and preserving Job Corps, DOL’s most successful workforce training initiative. Secretary Chavez-DeRemer understands the urgent need to address the skilled labor shortage by rebuilding the construction trades workforce and NAHB welcomes her leadership on these issues. We look forward to working with Secretary Chavez-DeRemer to address the critical skills gap in construction and on workplace safety and employment policies that promote effective workplace practices and minimize needless burdens on employers.”
