The new transit-oriented community in the Spring District will provide 234 affordable apartments for residents with incomes below 60 percent of the Area Median Income (AMI).

BRIDGE Housing has celebrated the groundbreaking of a new affordable housing community located in the Spring District of Bellevue, Washington.

The Spring District project is funded by partners including Amazon, the Washington State Department of Commerce, King County, the City of Bellevue, ARCH, Citi as construction lender, JLL as permanent lender, the National Affordable Housing Trust as tax credit investor, and others.

Forty apartments will be reserved for residents with developmental disabilities. The community will comprise two mid-rise buildings, six and seven stories tall, on property provided by Sound Transit. “We are grateful to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with dedicated partners at the city, county and state levels, along with business allies like Amazon, to help address this ongoing and urgent challenge,” said BRIDGE Housing President and CEO Ken Lombard.

BRIDGE Housing Corporation, a leading nonprofit developer of affordable homes, creates and manages a range of high-quality, affordable homes for working families and seniors. Since it was founded in 1983, BRIDGE has participated in the development of over 16,000 homes serving more than 40,000 people.

Amazon’s Housing Equity Fund is providing more than $3.6 billion in below-market loans and grants to preserve and create more than 35,000 affordable homes for individuals and families earning moderate to low incomes in the Puget Sound, National Capital, and Nashville regions—three communities that Amazon calls home. As many communities across the U.S. face an affordable housing shortage, we’re committing our resources to increase the supply of long-term, affordable homes for low to moderate-income residents.
