SKS was founded in mid-2021 by Smith, Steve Garchik, and Sydne Garchik. The new company is primarily focused on acquiring market-rate multifamily properties throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast markets.
Steve Garchik, a former partner with The Evans Companies, has been a real estate developer and owner for over 40 years; his company is SJM Partners of Delray Beach, FL. Sydne Garchik founded MRK Partners, Inc. in 2015; her company now has approximately 21 affordable multifamily properties with some 4,000 units in its portfolio.
Smith is responsible for the day-to-day operations of SKS, including sourcing deals, identifying equity investors, and acquiring well-positioned multifamily assets. Prior to forming SKS, he held several senior-level positions with institutional multifamily investment platforms in the Washington, DC metropolitan region.
