Avanath Capital Management, LLC, a private real estate investment manager, announces the expansion of its executive leadership team with the appointment of Carly Stevenson, a property management industry veteran, as Executive Vice President of Property Management.
Drawing upon more than 20 years of experience, Stevenson will help expand and bolster the continued success of Avanath’s property management division as the firm continues to acquire and manage new multifamily properties across the nation with a focus on affordable, workforce, and seniors housing, according to Daryl Carter, Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Avanath.
“Avanath is experiencing a period of significant growth, making this a critical time to ensure we have the people, infrastructure, and processes that are necessary to support our platforms and propel our overall goal of providing lifestyles within reach,” says Carter. “What makes Carly perfect for this role is her grassroots career. She began as a Leasing Consultant and is now a strategic leader for Avanath. Her expertise and personal commitment to enhancing residents’ lives through service dovetails perfectly with our investment and management philosophy.”
In 2022 to date, Avanath has acquired 15 properties totaling 3,313 units, including Barclays Pacific Park, which marked the firm’s 100th acquisition. Recent transactions such the acquisition of 669-unit Baldwin Village in Los Angeles have been significant displays of the firm’s ability to expand its presence as a leader in providing affordable housing in high cost of living rental markets, notes Stevenson.
“From afterschool programs and financial literacy classes to community forums and wellness programs, Avanath invests in high quality services, activities, and property management that make a significantly positive impact on the quality of living within the firm’s properties,” explains Carter. “In her role, Carly will unify the efforts of the site teams and corporate office, ensuring the quality of property management across our portfolio continues to meet our high standards and aligns with its mission to holistically invest in each property.”
Stevenson adds: “What drew me to Avanath is the opportunity to get to do something transformational by providing a lifestyle that is beyond what our residents ever dreamed was possible. I want Avanath to be the best property management company in the markets that we are in. You can manage pretty buildings all day long; the key to true success is in the value you add to people’s lives. It’s in our service to one another as human beings.”
Prior to joining Avanath, Stevenson was President of Property Management at Mandel Group, a multi-state multifamily property management firm based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she was responsible for the profitability and operations of their multi-state property management platform. She also held multiple management positions at AMLI and Waterton Residential. Through her roles she gained valuable knowledge and experience in several markets by enhancing the value of various asset types and classes, including Class A to C, garden to high rise, mixed-use, affordable, and commercial real estate assets.
“I’m one of the few people in property management who started from the ground up—it’s an accomplishment I’m proud of, and the experience I have gained is irreplaceable,” continues Stevenson. “For this next step in my career, I have moved from Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Irvine, California, Avanath’s corporate headquarters, to be as involved as possible in the firm’s endeavors. I’m looking forward to all the outstanding accomplishments we’ll achieve and the impact we will continue to make in communities across the nation as a team.”
Carter confirms: “Expanding our leadership team with one-of-a-kind individuals like Carly is what makes Avanath who we are. We’ve always been about more than the brick-and-mortar investments. From our properties to our teams, we invest in people, and that’s what truly makes a difference.”
