Beginning on April 8 and continuing on a weekly basis for the duration of the COVID-19 outbreak, NMHC, in partnership with the leading apartment data providers, will release weekly metrics assessing the overall effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on the U.S. multifamily industry.
Over the past few weeks, it has become increasingly evident that there is deep uncertainty on how significantly the coronavirus will negatively impact apartment firms across the country. As the premier industry trade association and information clearinghouse, NMHC has partnered with the below firms to create a national, weekly metric of the percentage of apartment households that have paid their rent.
NMHC will also provide historical rent payment performance as a comparison baseline. Following the initial publication on April 8, subsequent updates will be distributed every Wednesday at 11:00 AM ET.
“This is an unparalleled challenge for the nation’s apartment industry and the people we serve,” said NMHC President Doug Bibby. “Given the unpredictability of this crisis, it has never been more important to have reliable, transparent and up-to-date data to support multifamily housing leaders in their decision-making and to provide journalists, academics and other stakeholders with an accurate assessment of our industry. We are very grateful to our industry partners for coming together and working collaboratively with NMHC during this time.”
NMHC is partnering with the following firms on this initiative:
