Ecore, a company that transforms reclaimed materials into performance surfaces that make people’s lives better, now offers a Continuing Education Unit (CEU) titled “Flooring Design with Acoustics in Mind.” Upon completion of this course, architects and designers will have a better understanding of sound, acoustic ratings and flooring solutions that can help to reduce noise levels in various applications, including healthcare, education, multifamily, hospitality and fitness. This CEU also addresses acoustic problems that can arise when moving away from carpet to smooth surfaces in different settings.

“Acoustics is complicated,” said Bo Barber, Vice President of Sales with Ecore. “This CEU is our effort to educate architects and designers about all the challenges related to noise in the built environment. At Ecore, our surfacing can have a profound effect on impact sound and structure-borne vibration. This aligns with our commitment to create floors that do more with regard to acoustics, ergonomics and safety.”

Upon completing this CEU, participants will be able to recognize potential sound issues to address when specifying flooring surfaces, use acoustic ratings to compare different surfacing solutions to correct problems, and identify products and technologies to create optimal acoustics for different types of spaces and settings.

This CEU is a registered provider with The American Institute of Architects (AIA) Continuing Education Systems and the Interior Design Continuing Education Council (IDCEC). Upon completion of this program, participants will have their credits reported to AIA & IDCEC, even if participants aren’t members.

About Ecore

Since 1871, Ecore has been transforming reclaimed materials into performance surfaces that make people’s lives better. What started with simple cork closures has evolved into a diverse portfolio of products solving complex problems in applications ranging from playgrounds, weight rooms and turf fields to hospitals, hotels and retail environments. Ecore is driven every day by a simple question, “Can a floor do more?” YES. At Ecore, we create products based on the simple notion that floors should elevate beyond current expectations. Ecore’s energy is focused on the interaction between people and the surface. As a result, we engineer performance well beyond industry standards related to acoustics, ergonomics and safety. Harvesting the unique power from a myriad of waste streams, Ecore creates products that align substantial force reduction with a balanced amount of energy return to create dynamic surfaces that are catered to the individual and the application.

Ecore serves the athletic, fitness, healthcare, hospitality, corporate, multifamily, education and public space markets.
