Prominent North American developer, Intracorp, announced today that it is preparing to begin construction on a brand-new, 321-residence apartment building within Seattle’s Little Saigon neighborhood.

Located at South Jackson Street and 12th Avenue, the demolition on the existing building has been completed, and construction on the soon-to-be-named apartment community will begin in May. The seven-story building will feature studio, one- and two-bedroom floor plans with stainless appliances, quartz counters, tile backsplash, in-home washer/dryer, plank flooring, expansive windows and much more. An interest list is now forming for leasing opportunities that will launch in early 2021.

This project has been a collaborative effort between Intracorp, local community groups and stakeholders including the Friends of Little Saigon and the Seattle Chinatown International District Preservation and Development Authority (“SCIDpda”). Together, they have created a contemporary design for the development that integrates market rate and affordable rental housing complete with a pedestrian market retail passage that will connect Jackson and King Streets.

The marketplace will feature approximately 10,000 square feet of small- to medium-sized retail spaces that will become home to a wide array of Asian-inspired vendors and shops. Created using direct feedback from stakeholders, this space will become a vital and vibrant part of the neighborhood once the project is completed.

“Intracorp would like to thank the community for all of the input and guidance that has been given us to make this project a perfect fit for the neighborhood,” said Lis Soldano, vice president of development. “We are excited to give hundreds of future residents the opportunity to make their home in Little Saigon and be a part of this lively community.”

Designed by the award-wining Tiscareno Associates, Nakano Associates and Object & Space, the development will have a modern look and feel while preserving the cultural identity of Little Saigon. The team pulled inspiration from the Vietnamese culture to create a “wood, weave and greenery” aesthetic for the building complete with design features like bamboo, woven textures and artist-inspired elements. The building will also be constructed to LEED Gold Standards.

Residents will also have access to a variety of amenities including a two-story lobby, game room, fitness center and bicycle storage. The amenities will continue outdoors with a sky lounge with indoor and outdoor spaces offering expansive city views; a courtyard; and direct access to the Seattle Streetcar Line.

The apartment community will be located at 1029 South Jackson Street.
